Let it Snow…with the help of Google

The Google pranksters are at it this Christmas — there is a new ‘Easter Egg’ for all to discover.  Click here or click on the graphic to the left or visit google.com and just type “let it snow” in the Google search bar and watch the snow flakes start filling up your browser window.  If you wait for just a minute your screen will get all frosty, but that’s ok because the search button turns into a defrost button. You’ll also be able to ‘wipe’ the frost away with your cursor. Fun.

According to techspot: “It is important to note this trick only works on the most modern of browsers that support the “Canvas” element, a feature unique to HTML 5…verified to work in IE9, Chrome and Firefox 8.0.1.”

When asked for clarification, Google reportedly responded with this markedly poetic reply:

Through the fog, you have to peer
Because it’s the most wonderful time of the year
Your page turned into a winter wonderland
When you typed in that search command
You can always defrost the window
Or just let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Try it out and enjoy a little Christmas cheer from Google.
