I’m not sure if you are asking how long SEO will work as a viable method in online marketing…in general.

Or if you mean how long it will take to have SEO work in getting your site’s ranked.

Let me try to answer both.

In the first instance, I’d say at some level SEO will always work as it’s just based on optimizing a site/structure to allow readers (most importantly) but also spiders to crawl through your site and find relevant content.

In the second instance… I’ve seen sites rank on Google for medium to low competitive terms within 48 hours. For those more competitive terms it can take a solid few months and as long as a year. Really depends on the market and the keyword phrase you’re trying to rank for.

    Hope this helps.

How long seo will work will depend on various factors:

    1) Depends on how well you learn seo.
    2) Depends on whether you get the proper search engine optimization training on how to seo with minimal seo mistakes. You may choose to do it yourself, and you can learn this way with seo books, tutorials, seo pdf manuals, but you will pay a price in trial and error, wasted time, wasted money, loss of potential dollars sales in the $100’s / $1,000’s had you got it right the 1st time, additional expenses incurred due to redoing site and doing seo to site.
    3) Depends on how well you apply search engine marketing to your overall internet marketing strategy.
    4) Depends on how well you do keyword research
    5) Depends on how well you do competition research

    Bottom line:

How long seo will work will totally depend on the above factors and if the many variables that affect seo, seo mistakes made, are caught in time with seo help from a reliable source of seo information like a seo expert, coach!

So if the proper optimization has been maximized your site will stay up for a long time, until you have others that start doing some more aggressive off page seo and on page seo and you could bumped down, or till search engines decide to change their algorithms.

In order to work for ever a monthly maintenance program must be put in place to ensure your seo will work all ways, this can be doen for yourself or pay some one to do it..period!

SEO is an ongoing process. You can’t optimize your page once, and forget it. So, for the question you asked, there really is no answer.

Your optimization will take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months to be effective, depending on what steps you take. Then you must update your efforts regularly.

If you continue to maintain your optimization, then it will last forever. When you stop maintenance, your rankings will slide down at about the same pace you climbed up.

    SEO = Search Engine Optimization

By the very nature of the term, Search Engine Optimization would work as long as there are search engines in the internet world and there is a desire in the mind of website owners to “get found”. SEO practictioners often see programmers and website designers who can make applications that work well in a laboratory (their own desktops), but throw their websites at the search engine crawlers and the apps go poop! The role of SEO is mission critical and indispensable in the internet world. SEO defines and helps align programming and design practices to the extent that search engine crawlers can fully crawl and index website contents. Even when the feat of crawling has been accomplished, web usability and on-site conversion from visitors is what Search Engine Optimizers help achieve.

SEO is the science of designing/building websites and the art of gracefully handling crawlers as well as site visitors to achieve business break-through – getting found and getting online conversions.

Which kind of question is this. First you should describe your query. First clear your point of views about seo . Read seo related articles and blogs then ask.

SEO is here to stay. It changes constantly, so the specific strategies we are using today will fade int obsolescence, but as long as the search engines remain the commercial dynamos they have become we’ll be tripping all over each others to keep our clients at the top of the results. That will never change.

As long as there is enough electricity there will be internet and if there’s internet there will be search engines and if there are search engines there will be SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

However, Google does continue to refine methods to filter out black-hat SEO techniques (SPAM / Abuse).

So, basically short of an apocalyptic event, SEO will still be around for a foreseeable future.

    Good Luck!

    Thanks, TheWriter

    Website content

SEO or Search Engine Optimization will always be around… simply because there will always be search engines.

Currently the largest search engine on the internet is Google. This may not be the case in future.

Currently title tags, link building, anchor text and keyword rich content is important when undertaking SEO. This may not be the case in future.

The elements that make a website rank #1 in Google are always changing. Getting traffic from the biggest search engine online will always be competitive, so SEO experts will be needed.

Therefore, SEO will always exist… its just that the role of an SEO expert will continue to change over time.
