One of my goals with Cool Site of the Day is to shine a light on all the cool websites since the beginning of cyber time.

Cool Site of the Day has featured a unique site every day since August of 1994...nearly 9,000 sites!

In 1993, I was the first person to promote music on the Internet for the major record labels (via bulletin boards and primitive websites!). After 5 years working for the music industry, I bought Cool Site of the Day (1998).
I have been quoted in several online and offline publications including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal and am usually available for interviews and speaking engagements.

The Dissection of an Internet Marketing Guru

If I were to hire Markus Allen and his braintrust to talk ‘Internet Marketing’ for 3 hours and then ask him to record it and provide notes, I’d say that brain dump would be worth $997.  At a minimum.

So, being that he’s just released ‘Frank Kern Exposed’ for only $7, I have three words for you: BUY IT NOW.

Love him or hate him, you have to admire Frank Kern.

Kern has quickly become an internet marketing legend. And he’s got millions of reasons why you should pay close attention to him (as he has millions in the bank).

There are many tactics you can pickup when you study Frank Kern’s marketing:

Frank Kern is a character – he’s created a persona (i.e. a marketing character) giving us the impressions he’s a slacker surfer dude who makes money almost by accident.  Don’t be fooled by this. Kern admit “it’s ninja psychological trickery” on the masses as he actually works quite hard and is sharp as a diamond.

“Move-the-free-line” magic – he borrows from the Dan Kennedy mantra of “telling people what to do, not how to do it.” Whether it’s fair or not, moving the free line down (while giving the impression you’re moving it up) is a surefire tactic to sell more stuff. It’s crucial to tell ’em the “what” and sell them the “how to do it” behind a pay wall.

The Gary Halbert of internet marketing – Kern and Halbert (the self-proclaimed copywriting great and “Prince of Print”) fully understands the perceived desires and wants that motivate his followers to buy from them… so much so that all they often had to do was “show up”, ask for the sale and cash the check.

“Magic shiny silver bullets” – who doesn’t want to push a button now and make millions by this weekend? Each Kern product alludes to the ease and speed of success when you buy his stuff.

Look over Frank’s shoulder – through surveying his prospects, Kern realized his targets really wanted to peak over his shoulder and see how he makes money. And that’s exactly what Kern delivers… a peak into his life via video. This is an excellent way to help build trust with your prospects.

Industry speak – Kern communicates in the same language as his marketplace by using industry jargon to develop rapport with his prospects. For example, Kern’s prospects are often internet marketers, so he uses industry words and phrases in his videos such as “Google Slap” or “lead gen” or “CPM”… “autoresponders”… “landing pages”, etc.

Step-up funnel – this is the crux of Kern’s success. Frank’s sales funnel move his 170,000 prospect email list into a low-cost product (just $1)… then he moves these buyers into ordering his Mass Control… then into his Mass Control Monthly (his continuity product)… then into even more expensive products. Business guru Jay Abraham calls this “The System”… you offer a low-priced “loss leader” product, get the customer hooked, move ’em up to more expensive products — rinse and repeat. This is the magic formula used by just about every internet millionaire.

    1. I can respect that, but….(you knew there was a but), Allen does a ton of article marketing, which is hopefully going the way of the dinosaur with the new Google Farmer update. I just find all these Internet marketers absolutely the scum of the earth, preying on people who really need money and are desperate for information. Still a fan, though, Mike!

  10. Frank’s stuff is good and I actually do like his style. He actually understands that the first thing you need to do is figure out who your audience is. That’s so important to any marketing campaign.

  13. Frank is great at building relationships with potential customers, it is essential for every business to build a relationship with there customers. Not many people understand how to get clients for there services
    online.

  14. Bulll. Yes…it’s all baloney. Frank Kern is the same cheesy used car salesman most common folk want to avoid.

    Most everything in the IM niche is designed to “suck the cash” out of your wallet!

    This is why so many hate it…and so many love it.

    Does his stuff work? Of course it does. But most folks (incuding google) do not like the way it is presented.

    I can see BS 10 miles away. And that’s what it is.
